How does one go about downloading it in the U.S.? My understanding was that it was only available via the UK Itunes store, which requires a UK address and credit card.

Mine is working fine. All the features are woking.

Even the Google search to send an address to the car option is working (Map tab -> enter the proper address -> click on the red flag -> when the address pops up click on the right arrow -> Send to vehicle).

There is a bit of time involved in those functions to work, but be patient until the rotating wheel finishes (yes, maybe a minute).

It may be the case that you would need to be outside with your car and iPhone for the app to work.

Also, I'm not so sure if you can open a UK iTunes account without a payment info even if you what to download something for free. In that case, if you do not have credit card connected to the UK address, you may want to ask someone in UK to buy you a iTunes gift card and give you a code number off of it.

You were able to get the "send to car" feature to work? I tried only a few days ago and it still gives me the error!

Picked up my new X3 yesterday.
I just installed BMW Remote in the United States.
On my computer I logged out of my US iTunes Account. Found the app in the UK store. I created a new UK account using a hotmail email. On the computer only, it gives you a "None" option for credit card (not in the iphone) (as of 5-27-11). I gave it all the info and, for good measure, a London zip code. Downloaded and installed fine. I can also confirm that "Climate" button is missing for the 2011 X3 with Technology + BMW Apps.

Someone at 221B Baker Street in London is going to get Apple junkmail b/c that's how I got the My BMW Remote app. :-)

I'm in Oklahoma & the app works for me. All features operate as designed.

So... I have the US version of the app, with limited functionality, etc. But recently it has stopped working. It will no longer connect with the vehicle. I've tried deleting and reloading the app, rebooting the iPhone, etc. but it won't work. I almost have to laugh when the self-diagnostic tool says "error, could not connect".

Anyone have this issue and/or know of a solution? Is the problem with the application, the iPhone, or the vehicle? Of one thing I am certain... each will point to the other.

I guess you're talking about the BMW connect app? I see the self-diagnostic only on this one. The BMW remote app doesn't have this option and in the US version, climate control doesn't show up either.

Anyway, when my dealer was helping setup mine for the first time, we ran into the same problem. He plugged/unplugged the white cable couple of times and then ran the self-diagnostic. It started recognizing after that.

Not sure if you'd tried that..

I just typed in London address example in google and it showed a couple of examples. I used some address on Downing street.

Posted this on another thread but to keep all the BMW Remote app stuff together

Had chance to use the remote iPhone app to set the climate in the car today. Some people have said it's disabled but it worked for me earlier. I set the timer, got to the car a couple of minutes after the start time and when I opened the car the air con was on and it was cold. Could come in very handy

Has anyone else got this working?

Thank you for your reply. This app (including) the climate control, is fully functional and supported in the UK. I have not found any user in the USA, who uses it with a X3, who has the climate feature.

Did it start the car engine? Curious as to what is running the AC compressor to make it cold.

sfax,

Did you get Climate Control when you use the app for first time or it available recently?
Still nothing here in Canada.

I think it's always been there. This is just the first time we've had weather warm enough to try it out. It probably won't be needed again until 2012!

Ditto...wish they had the seat heating option as remote instead

Sfax, is there a lag of 30-45 seconds before remote lights come on? I've tried ..options do work apart from trying the remote horn for the same reasons as yours

Arrrrrgh, I'm so jealous of y'all with that toy I could just spit . . . .

Wish I could have delayed production to get it!!! Dunno why, but that gadget sounds like a lot of fun (and a bit truly handy).

Yes, sometimes a bit more. I think it's a combination of sending the request data and then the car's iDrive "waking up" to receive the data and process the request.

I have an early production model (week 4) and it works just fine.
