UK lead times x3 2015

Hi all, new to the forum and have just ordered a BMW for the first time. Apparently it won't be delivered until 1st week in September, is that a normal wait for a new x3 in the uk?

I am very excited though, can't wait to drive it.

I have ordered the black 2.0 SE model with black leather.

New forum member here too!
I ordered the X3 mid-March and was loosely told I'd get a May build for June delivery. I called the dealership yesterday for an update and was told It'll be mid-September delivery! That's 6 months!!!

Are they prioritising X-line models for prodution because it's a new spec?

I've ordered 2.0d M Sport in Glacier Silver with Oyster Nevada leather (to much disgust of the lci M Sport haters )

would have thought the lead time is due to the LCI introduction as at some point, the build time was down to 3 mths

just be glad that you didn't have to wait 10 mths like some of us when the F25 model first came out

Very true!
I don't think I'd have had the patience to wait 10 months to be fair.

I CANNOT WAIT to take delivery!

Didn't realise they would take that long. Have been considering a 35d model to replace my 20d and thought it would be around 3 months.

Any ideas on deals out there? Was hoping for a minimum of 10% off a loaded car, but with it being in such demand, have a horrible feeling that dealers won't be so keen to deal.

I might be keeping my 20d for a bit longer!

Is that to promote the X-line models and to push the X4 sales?
The X4 is obviously being launched as the sporty alternative to the X3 as most promo pics show it in M Sport spec.

I considered the X4 but couldn't justify the £2.5k premium. Interestingly, my dealer tells me they haven't received any orders for the X4, which tells me there isn't much interest yet.

Hadn't thought of that but makes sense!! But not if you are a customer with X3 M sport on order like me

Seems to be M Sport orders that are being delayed.

Mine is only SE, so don't know why we have such varying lead times 😁

So is a 6 month wait for an M Sport acceptable or is it worth pushing my salesman for an earlier build?
Do the dealerships have any leverage on build dates or is it purely up to BMW/plant?
It makes a big difference being told 6 months from the original 3 months

Ordered my 2011 in Jan and it arrived at the end of Sept. That was a loooooong wait especially as I moved from an A5 to a 318i to tide me over.

Just ordered another X3 (first time I've ever ordered the same model again) and was hoping I'd be looking at 3-4 months rather than 6-9 :/

Ordered an LCI to replace my 2011 X3 week before Easter. In no rush to change but the plan is it will be here for September. Build weeks for previously ordered cars appeared to have been removed from his system so was unable to give me an idea of lead times.
SE ordered with nav pack and xenons. Problem now is that with time to play on the Configurator before order is frozen leads to temptation to add extras!

LCI 2.0d X-line

Ordered my LCI 2.0d X-line in Sapphire Black with Mocha Leather (hope it goes :-) ) just over a week ago. Still awaiting a build number and projected date.

However when I did finally order I was warned that something had changed since beginning of April that had caused delays. Hoping for September delivery but expecting more like October/November :-(

The X-line here comes with the Copper trim. Its hard to see on configurator but is this a wood grain finish? All the photos seem to be wood finish but not sure if they are the copper finish?

The "before and after"* feature on the UK configurator seems to show that the copper has an even tone rather than the wood effect.

* there's a little "handle" on the image that you can drag left/right to compare the current trim to the one you had previously selected.

Your joking!! That worries me a lot - ordered mine just after Easter and broker was initially promising of a fairly accurate delivery date - now two weeks later that date hasn't been forthcoming and he has avoided answering again today...

I was warned it might be September/October but now very worried.. what did you order and when?

Mine's a company car but fulfilled by a dealer. They confirmed my spec at the start of the week and came back today with a date of 16 Jan 2015.

As per an earlier post, my last X3 took 8 months to deliver but back then the new F25 had only just come out. By now I thought the demand would have reduced, even with the LCI.

I suspect the date is accurate. I have to make personal usage contributions for the car and they're tiny compared to anything else (cheaper than a 320d SE!!!). This is because the residual values on the X3 are much higher because they're in demand and retain their value well.

In terms of what I ordered, see my sig below.

In the US, the build date is influenced by the dealer's allocation of build slots. If the dealer has no slot available until some distant future date than your build date will be a distant future date. Does it work the same way in the UK? Is it possible that buying from a different dealer, perhaps one with more allocated build slots, will substantially improve your delivery date?
