Checklist for collecting new X3?

Hi,

I am about to collect my X3 28i from the dealer. Is there a checklist for items to check for when collecting the car? What are the main things to lookout for?

Thanks.

All you can really check for is cosmetic and basic does it work or not. There is usually a delivery person who runs you through functionality, so most of the functionality will be spoon fed. Pour over the body for paint defects, wheel scratches, interior panel and trim scratches, leather defects. If tinted, check the tint job for quality......

Picked ours up on 9/3
Walkaround check for body damage. Check.
Write check. Check.
Hearty handshakes all around. Check.
Depart.
So far, so good.

Check to make sure they removed the inserts between the shocks. They should be orange plastic.

I'm having the darkwood trim. If there are some trim scratches, can reject? Or does it comes with those plastic covers that prevent scratching?

They usually wrap the car pretty well inside and out from the factory. Of course stuff can happen. If you identify it before you accept the car the dealer will make it right. If you find it post delivery it is a toss up and dealer to dealer dependent if they will agree that they did it and not you.

I had a tiny paint bubble defect about 4 mm in size that I luckily and unfortunately found before leaving the stealership. The X3 is back at the dealer's paint shop being fixed. I hope it's as good as new...*sigh* ... Wait 2 months for a custom order only to have it have a defect.

Sorry to hear that. How long did they say it will take?

Having a 35i delivered in a few weeks for my wife. I'm considering telling them not to wash or wax it to avoid swirls and excess wax. Different dealer, but when I got my new F10 a few months ago they put swirls in the paint and gooped wax all over.

I already told my CA to make sure they don't wax it. I'll remind him when I see the car is on it's way.

When I took my Acura TL home a bunch of years back, I found 3 scratches in the roof consistent with someone hitting into it while polishing/waxing with a machine. They fix it but it took a week.
