The NA version looks nothing like that. Doesn't really do anything.

Just timed how long it takes to flash the headlights from the point of pressing Perform Now and it was only 35 seconds. Not sure if this was the recent update or I just got lucky but this is much faster than it normally is

Hmmm, thinking about it, this might be because it wasn't a "cold start". I'd recently got out of the car. Will try when cold to see if it's the same

Not heard anything. Shame as it has a lot of potential with some decent developers involved

1 minute 10 seconds total with a cold start. I assume the difference is iDrive booting up rather than just waking up. Quick enough to be useful sometimes. Shame they dropped the beep horn 3 times function

I have it installed but day to day it's useless. The only function that actually works is flashing the lights. The remote air activation doesn't do anything and not sure why I'd use the locate day to day but
Probably useful in a large carpak where I've lost the car

My remote air activation works. Just set the time.

The most useful feature of the app is sending destinations to the car. Only way to do it from an iPhone

Potentially the most the useful feature of the app is find my car if you could only remove the 1.5km restriction. It then becomes a tracker if the car is ever stolen

Just read this on CNET's CarTech blog that Android App is supposed to be released next year..
(Here's the snippet from the article link below, I quote "Currently, BMW's app efforts are only enabled on iPhone, but the company says it is expanding integration for Android, which should roll out next year.")

Also, it looks like they are opening to 3rd Party developers as well..

The future looks good.

Does sound promising. Funny they are looking at a permanent 4G data connection in the car but the latest car they produce has an inbuilt SIM that is only capable of woeful connection speeds (GPRS/EDGE) when 3G has been available for years

This appears to be tied to the BMW Connected App, not the My BMW Remote App that this thread is about.

I tried this App but I could only get as far as the login screen on my iPhone for the "Connected Drive Portal". I followed the directions for the UK iTunes but for some reason it won't let me in. I used my user id and password for BMW Assist. Is anyone else having the same problem or have a solution?

I don't think that website works in NA. I was able to get the connected drive app to work. It uses the email address of bmw assist and the password that I provided my SA earlier this year. I find issues with having the UK iTunes account and the US iTunes account. When I switch back to my US account, the connected drive crashes. I have to delete it, switch to my virtual UK account, then log back in. It's kinda a pain. Actually, Connected Drive is more of a toy most of the time. I honk the horn or flash the lights for friends simply to be a smart ass.

using the map app within the connected drive app is probably the most useful feature. (i.e. to send nav addresses to the car). I like this, a lot. Entering addresses in car is time consuming. However, with a mobile device, it's slick.

On the flip side, it did come in handy when my wife parked the car at the other end of a parking lot and I had to find it! I was walking around aimlessly with my phone in my hand and it was slick to find the car. This was very atypical for me, though.

Good luck, all!

+1 all points including being a smart ass! They've disabled the remote honking on the latest version though - boooo!

I don't this that site works with the US. I've tried the information for BMW Assist but it just won't let me in. Maybe if I call and change/update my info with BMW Assist it will give in. I also have the iphone 4S so maybe it's just not compatible.

Might be worth getting them to change your password and if that fails change your username. Don't think it's 4S as I'm on the the same iOS

Yes, but only if your iPhone is within 1-2 kilometers of your X3. If you're on vacation in Hawaii it won't tell you if your X3 is still in your garage at home.

It works onlocation decided by X3 GPS, so distance from the car doesn't matter. You could be on other side of globe too to view your X3's location.

Try it. Leave your X3 at home and go to Napa for the weekend (although I don't know why you would want to do that). BMW has built distance limits into the software.
