Wiper blade: Bad blade? or arm issue?

It's hard for me to take a picture of the issue, but the driver-side blade on my '13 has a small air gap directly in the center under where the blade attaches.

This annoying leaves a 2" streak sometimes right in the sight-line.

I haven't replaced the blades yet, because I'm wondering is this something I should have them adjust to fix? or is it just an issue where the blade as lost tension or something.

Total newb here. Any info appreciated.

Just wipe it with a cloth or paper towel. I thought I needed a new one but it was just dirt lodged.

If it has always been like it, it could be the screen is not flat. Get a plastic or wooden rule and place it on the screen by the wiper blade and if there is a gap, you know it is not the blade. The wiper blades are easy to take off, so you could always place the blade against a flat surface to check that it is sitting flat.

The rear wipers of both my X3s have the gap in the centre. I reduced of the problem by flexing the outer parts of the blade. As it's the rear it's not so much of an issue. I think there are cases where arms don't exert enough pressure to flatten the blades enough.

Agree with you, the rear blades are terrible.

I'd just get some new oem blades. I'd guess about £40 from bmw.

I change mine every 12 months

I have the same problem, I´ve replaced the blades twice now. After replacing them the problems goes away, but after about 3 months its starts happening again, really annoying.
