Find it a touch annoying that the 'base' X3 doesn't have USB. It's standard in my mini and is brilliant for all my music, drag it all onto a stick and it plays great in the car with all the track and album names. With a USB don't really see the need for anything else for music.

I do agree that the X3 should have the USB as a standard feature..think it is standard in the new 5 series. Got the USB with Bluetooth added for my X3 and it works very well to connect my S2. Works seamlessly to get track and album names displayed on the screen |

Thanks Horsey!
So maybe an older cradle would be the way to go? For me? Have reversing camera on my curtesy car (and my X3 when it arrives) - very nice. No top view for me, though. QT Quote:

Here are a few photos of the new toy, I hope these links work:
The weather chucked it down yesterday on a treck over the East Yorkshire moors so it didnt stay clean for too long !! Still getting used to the controls, a few things have changed since my 5 series from 3 years ago. Initial thoughts: I was a bit wary about the comfort of the seats over long distances. I needent have worried. Pleased I specced the electric seats as finding a good position was quick and easy. Cruise control has moved to the steering wheel from a stalk on the left, will just take a little getting used to. Volume control is now on the right of the wheel, sadly there is no mute on the steering wheel unless I am missing something so the on/off button has to do. Scrolling through tracks or radio stations is also different but not an issue. The SATNAV is something to behold in widescreen display. At last BMW has got its act together and has full postcode input. I like the HUD, the info is very easy to read and helps in that the speed limit on the road is shown alongside the actual speed. Putting the SATNAV info up there has to be a bonus for safety. No more looking down at the display or the dash. I took the iphone cradle out of the 535d so no issues there, phone works perfectly well. I dont store music on it, but I do on the itouch. This worked well off a cable showing album art and the music details. I had a lot of my music on a 32Gb stick. That also worked well, but I noticed that some album art work didnt show, so need to investigate that. The rear sill seems to be very vulnerable to scratches so need to invest in something here. Currently looking at the BMW sill protector. I think that they have missed something here as I'm sure that 3M film was available for the old model?? Overall I'm very pleased with the car. Its indecently quick even keeping the revs down to reasonable levels for the time being. Just clocked 350 miles so far, so its early days yet, and so far no reoccurance of the 'transmission fault' Cheers Last edited by vojak; 06-17-2012 at 08:01 AM.. |

Looking good Vojak! Any reason you didn't spec the 19" wheels?

450 miles in and I am getting about 29 MPG on a 25 mile 1 hour journey (mix of London traffic, motorway and country roads). Still in breaking in period, but not driving Miss Daisy either.
Not sure what MPG I am expecting, but it is sure to go down once I am over 1200 miles ...

Finally collect my X3 today. Delayed from Friday due to work commitments. Hopefully weather will hold. Will try and download some pictures later.

Back again :-)
I'm getting closer to what I want to order. Can the group check my reasoning- I think i'd prefer the extra power of the 3.0d over the 2.0d, but because of the £4k extra cost I'm only going to choose the Professional Nav + Sports Steering wheel. The BMW assist that's included with the Professional Nav sounds like a gimmick- I presume I can't delete it and get some money back? Is there any extra which you would class as essential? Subjective question :-) |

She's at Bremehaven and about to be loaded back on to a ship to Southampton. Don't think it will quite make this weekend but looking good for early next week

Make sure you get some nice wheels! And if you can afford it a reversing camera of some description. Bum warmers for the winter!
