looks like most, if not all of you guys have opted for the pro Nav which is prob why there's no delay whereas i haven't, really don't see the need for it as i travel mainly short distances and have no need for a Nav.. the trusted tomtom is more than sufficient..
guess i shld find out from the dealer then...

ARGHHHH!!!
Spoke too soon, went to dealers today to test drive a 520D auto, just to see what the 8 speed auto gearbox was like (it was nice), and whilst there checked on my X3 order......I wish I hadn't, order now gone from "build wk 38" to "off production". In other words at this point they now do not have a eta on build date.

BTW I'm a little puzzled with the dates that your dealer has given you. If you were orginally scheduled for week 38, I can't see how a UK order could be with you by Oct 11. It may have just hit shipping schedules right, but I thought that the norm was about 6 weeks from production to delivery. That would take you to week 44/45, which is the beginning of November. |

I am not an expert for sure but that is outrageous. I would be complaining in writing and give them 7 days for a written explanation. Delays - fine but not seen anything like that on here and no explanation is poor service IMO.

Surely that's a good reason to cancel. That is really cancel, no threats just get your money back, better in your account than theirs!

Sorry to hear that Viking. That is unbelievable. And you had to go in to find that out?! No call to update you. It could have been at that status for a while. They do nothing unless you stand over them and ask for an update. Hope it works out for you

Interesting you had an 8wk production to expected gap. All other Uk builds reported seem to have a 6 week gap. Wonder why that was? Still so annoyed for you Viking. As a customer with a contract you are entitled to an explanation. I do hope they use the "error" excuse and get you back on track fast. Anyone know a good lawyer as backup?

Dealer expected the Build to be updated within the next few days, but obviously couldn't say if the it would return to original build date or slip.
He mentioned that he has been seeing this happen more often recently, and has been surprised that the original build date sometimes returns. Go figure! He assures me that he is going to check regularly and inform me as soon as the status changes, and of course I will be pestering him every other day just to make sure. The dealers don't seem to have an option / or don't want to contact the factory to see why the changes on the system. They just rely on updates to the system.

Just advised my order has been suspended due to parts shortages. I have Pro Nav included. So now I join Viking, sob. Advise all UK buyers to check with their dealers. Get the code if you can - code 500 means don't call us, we will call you when we get parts. Deeply depressed now.

I would start a new thread in CAPS. This sounds pretty serious and it won't be just UK orders affected.
Sorry to hear about this news guys

Doing some rough calculations based on available evidence it looks like the are cancelling orders about 7 weeks ahead of the planned production date I that helps anyone. Unlikely to be a linear process tho as those cars they have components for get built.
