The new 5 Series is an excellent car - and I could be hugely tempted - but with a toddler (and I would love another) an X3 is more practical right now. I agree with another poster: BMW are being very aggressive in the US market with the X3 - pricing competitively and fulfilling orders very quickly. This shouldn't devalue the product - Americans are just very lucky. Maybe the OP wants to complain about cost of petrol too |

Something to consider re the pricing that I didn't see mentioned specifically above is that BMW was kind of digging itself out of a hole with the last X3. It was a first when it came out, but it wasn't all that well received overall and as it aged competitors surged well past. There was a distinct difference between the nature of a 3 series sedan and the old X3 that didn't allow sedan/coupe/touring fans to easily move to the X. So, I could totally be wrong because I'm just guessing, but I wonder if it was priced aggressively to entice folks who'd previously looked at an X3 and rejected it -- or bought one and disliked it. Wouldn't be surprised if the pricing structure changes over the next few years.
So, I guess my point for the OP who was feeling like he cheaped out (or something like that), maybe you were just at the right place at the right time and got a great deal on a vehicle priced below its relative value for marketing purposes. But, then again, I'm just waving my hands here, so who knows . . .

BMW will get your money somehow. The lending rates in Canada for the 3 series is lower than the X3. A lowered X3 price resulted in higher borrowing costs. So unless you pay in cash, the value for the X3 would still be higher.
