Is my dealer jerking me around?

Is my dealer jerking me around?

I ordered my X3 the beginning of June . Dealer said there's a chance the car will be delivered by the end of June. This didn't seem resonable but ok.

At the end of June I was told the car would go into production the first full week of July. So, on July 5th I asked why my X3 didn't show as scheduled for production on the BMW web site or on the 800 number and was told the plant was closed this week for the holiday.

I've now asked three times what build week my X3 is scheduled for and can't get an answer. Am I correct in thinking that the dealer should know what week I'm scheduled for?

The dealer claims that doing a PCD will take at least 6 weeks longer than having the car shipped to them in Ohio. Does this seem reasonable? Did those of you doing the PCD have to wait 6 extra weeks to get your X3/X5?

Thanks.

People at any car dealership (not only BMW) are professional liars... their profession requires them to lie, so dont believe everything they said. You need to use your own instincts to see if they are lying or not... im not lying

This may be somewhat true. I requested PCD at the time I placed my order. The date BMW offered me for PCD would have been about three weeks later than the date the car arrived at the dealership after I declined the PCD option.

Well the PCD has seen "overwhelming demand" for X3 deliveries. I'm sure there is a backlog to get a spot...

Might be two enturelt different set of build slots. That is, to sell the PCD delivered vehicle they may not be able to use a "normal" slot. It's not just, order, wait in line to build, deliver. There are the slots, the holidays, shipping considerations (batching, filing trucks, or train cars), and as others mentioned scheduling of limited slots per day for PCD. These parameters are not independent so he impact can be significant.

complaint filed with BMW

I filed a complaint with BMW regarding the dealers lack of responsiveness. It's been two days and haven't heard from BMW or the dealer yet.

The maddening thing about this is I could have had a PCD date for the end of July when I first ordered the car had I chosen PCD. At the rate things are going it will take longer to get the car not doing the PCD than having chosen that option.

Your dealer (if he had a build slot open) when you placed your order, knows your exact build week and should give you that info. Did you go to the sales manager?

Talking PCD

Dealers are filling slots in their allocation, which generally is available 90 days into the future. As each dealer has a unique status with allocated slots (some are sold, some may be availabe to sell). You should be able to get the dealer to tell you if they are giving you a already allocated slot or not. If you are getting allocated slot, they will be able to give you a production week. If they are not giving you a slot in their allocation, then they can not commit to a production week period.

My PCD delivery was 5 weeks after the car was produced or about 3 weeks longer than delivery at the dealers.

In my experience, even when the dealers tell you they have a build slot, they may not actually have one.
