Question regarding turning the car off
Whenever I turn off the car, I have to push the start/stop button twice to fully turn the car off. The first time stops the engine and the second time turns off the "accessories"(radio/nav etc..) Is there a way to change this? I want everything to turn off at the same time. Any ideas on how to do this?

Even if you only press the off button once (turing off the engine), when you exit the car and press the BMW emblem grommet on your key, the electricity will then also turn off.

Thanks! It worked Doesn't happen to me. Maybe your hitting the windshield wiper switch by mistake or it is on automatic?... Only thing I could think of that could be "normal" |

I also notice that occasionally the windshield wipers move (or at least I don't notice it everytime). My best guess is it is to change them from a more aerodynamic ride position to a accessible position for changing them and cleaning the windows.

I don't know the reason or if it is just a "home postion" routine but the movement is very slight so I'm not worried. |

I'm curious, if the start stop button is depressed one and you exit the vehicle with the key FOB and get some distance from the vehicle will that also shut off the electricity?

If you have the fan on high and the radio on, the power drain is substantial. |

On my car, you can hold the button down for 10 seconds, and the accessories circuit still stays on. This seems to be the way the owner's manual (pp. 59) says it should work. There is no mention of a full shut down by "holding the button for more than 1 second". It always takes a second press or operation of the key remote lock button. The X3 is very different from the 3-Series sedans in many ways. |

If you have to hold the button for more than one second, surely it becomes quicker and easier to press it twice?
Save time and press once and then locking the car acts as the 2nd press * * only works if you lock the car
