I've only seen about three other on the road in the NE. A blue one with 20" wheels parked in Dalton Park (must be a demonstrator with those wheels), a white one that I've seen twice on the A19 Southbound, and the demonstrator from Cooper Teesside.......I'll feel exclusive for about 1 year I reckon....

Congrats! Don't forget to post some pictures.
Yes, it's still very exclusive. I've only seen 2 so far and spend a lot of time looking. ENJOY

It's here!
Arrived today!
![]() Not done many miles yet (about 65 today), but here are first impressions: +ve 1) It feels bigger than I remember from the test drive - although it doesn't have the roof height of the first gen X5, you seem to sit at the same level. 2) Build quality is good, but not as good as my E60 520d MSport 3) Pronav screen is a beaut! 4) Voice commands very consistent 5) UK Dynmamic package feels fine - still a lot softer than the MSport suspension on my E60. 6) Gearbox is sweet as a nut 7) Seating position/pedals are fine (will refine comment after 1000 miles!) -ve 1) I have a rattle/buzz from the passenger front door! Already booked in at dealers to sort. 2) MPG is about 36: yes, it's a new engine! Wait and see how it loosens up a bit. On a flat motorway with good tarmac, getting 50.6MPG at 70mph. 3) Engine noise is louder than on E60, but not bad at all. 4) Wind noise from mirrors more noticeable than on E60. 5) Bluetooth audio streaming not seeming to work.... It's early days, but I like it! Compared with the Q5 which I got a longer test drive of, I do prefer this. The Q5 is nice, but the seating position is worse, the suspensions WAY stiffer and the mpg/CO2 worse as well. If the Q5 was identical in running costs (mpg/CO2) to X3, then it would be a close run thing, but I reckon I would probably still go with the X3. Photos to follow when I get the chance (I do a proper job for a living.....sic)

Congratulations!!
![]() ![]() Bluetooth audio streaming is fiddly but you should try re-pairing the phone when the iDrive is on the Bluetooth menu. Works for me but if you then plug the phone in using a USB you lose the BT again and have to repeat the re-pairing. Agree re. Q5 seating position and ride comfort and would add that the auto is better in the X3 too. I experienced a lot of waiting for the Q5 to accelerate. I'm over 2000 miles and still 35-36mpg average . Disappointing but may be down to the choice of wheels/tyres and auto trans. I can drive very conservatively and manage up to 42mpg but I'm talking 60-70 on a motorway and dog slow elsewhere to achieve this. I'd prefer to drive properly and take the £££ hit. May improve after some more miles.

Doofus
I let the wife have a drive while I sat in the passenger seat; I was listening out for my rattle/buzz to see if I could locate the offending area/root cause. I found it.
The bloody screw in toe hitch was in the passenger door storage bin! Will need to call dealer and apologise for being stupid..... ![]()

Don’t feel too bad, they really shouldn’t have put it there in the first place. |
