Not for me. Apparently because I have smartphone integration. That said, be pieces aren't all here yet and the standard Apple able works fine.

OK, this is supposed to be included with all X3s purchased in the US that don't have smartphone integration. Some dealerships are holding on to them and trying to charge you $70 for it if you want one. Don't let them screw you on this. It comes with the car!

No, doesn't mean that. Not clear to my, though, whiter you need the aux audio part. Try with the standard apple USB cable and see if you get audio.

The cheap looking cable the dealer gave me is a retractable apple/usb cable. Even though I have no problem getting audio after I plug my iphone in, I want an OEM part if it comes with the X3.

@lotus7: thanks for posting the photos
@ma78: thanks for the info about the part it comes with the x3 Not sure why dealers do this kind of cheap tricks. Let me see what my dealer does, this will be a good point to see how truthful he is on what he says. |

They do it because 90% of the time they can get away with it. Lets face it, most BMW buyers will never visit an online enthusiast forum. They just take what their CA says at face value and get happily screwed. BMWNA doesn't seem to give two farts about the bad behavior at their dealerships. It's very unfortunate. You'd never get treated like that at a Lexus or MB dealership (not that that's any excuse to buy one). Oddly enough, I've always found that CAs at MINI to be extraordinary. Totally different attitudes, and very well informed. |

My cable like the one Lotus showed, was included with mine. It was tucked in with the owner manual and my CA made it a point to show me it was there and what it does. The cable even shows up on the car "sticker" as standard, so I think that would prove that you should all get it.

True that it is option/model dependent. I got the Nav package with my F25 and I was very happy when I was told I could use a standard Ipod USB cable. I still have the honker dual cable from my last BMW, a 2008 328, as it was part of the $400 "Ipod/USB interface". It goes to eBay when I have some time.

When I picked my X3 up last week my CA told me (without me having to even ask) that this was included but that they didn't have it-he got it in the next day, and expedited it to me and I got it yesterday. I got the Nav and premium sound-the nav included (I think...?) the internal harddrive-not sure what that size is, but I spent last night downloading parts of 2 different ipods into the harddrive + about 20 CDs and there is still over 50% capacity left!! Another discovered bonus-even with copied CD's (stuff burned onto generic CD's) this system downloads them and reads/copies all the artist, song information! How cool is that!! My last car had a harddrive like this but on copied CDs it would not do this, so I had 20+ CDs of "unknown artist"..yes I could have gone in and manually imported the info, but I'm too lazy for that...
btw-the premium stereo is simply awesome- |

Are you guys using the IPOD USB cable which you use to sync to your computers? I tried this just for kicks and it didn't work. I used the aux USB port in my console, as I do not have the tech package and a USB port in my glovebox. Is this all the USB in my console is for?

I checked with my dealer and he informed me that they do not supply the cables anymore (Canada only) as it works with the cable that comes with the iPod.

My dealer said the same. But I did get the cable - and the iPhone 4 says it is already outdated I also saw another cable which had a Y junction instead of a full box like in this thread's picture. I was told it is the older one - but I wonder if it'd work better with the tech package?
