'11 Purchase Inquiry/Assistance
Guys,
A friend led me over here to post/ask this for more information. So I hope you guys can assist me. This is the build (from the BMW USA site) I want my X3 to have and wanted to know what price I should be paying for a finance/purchase. Base MSRP $36,750 Sparkling Bronze metallic $550 Black Nevada Leather $0 Fineline Siena wood trim $0 Convenience Package $1,850 Premium Package $3,450 Roof rails in Aluminum Satin $250 Park Distance Control $750 Rear-view camera $400 Destination & Handling: $875 Total MSRP as Built $44,875 I was quoted two prices from two dealers in Atlanta for the following build: $42,999 and $42,580 (w/o taxes and plate/tag) A few questions: - In the Premium Pkg, I don't really think I need it, as I'm paying add'l for the leather (as I want that) but is the lumbar support and auto dimming mirrors something seen as a necessity? - What's the price I should offer to the dealer with and w/o the premium pkg? Thanks in advance. |

As far as pricing goes, I think the best deals right now are through Zag certified dealerships. If you have an American Express, try this: http://amexnetwork.zag.com/main.html Prices vary from dealership to dealership, but I got my X3 35i for $500 over invoice. |

I vote yes for the lumbar. I didn't get it on my X3 and regret it (after a long drive from Atlanta to Florida last week)

I just finalized my deal on 2/17 for 500 over invoice, all I did is went to amexnetwork.zag website and took the invoice price for the car and as well the packages, I added them up to see my total invoice price, with this I talked to couple of dealerships in my area and one of them agreed for $500 (little far from myplace) over invoice and other one for $1000 over invoice (close to my place). Talked to the dealer who is near by my place and shown him the offer that I have with the other dealer and finally he agreed for 500$ over invoice.
I liked the lumbar support and auto dimming mirrors, so I went for it. |

I still can't see the reason for the lumbar support. I'll have to look into it a bit more on Google.
Another thing, does the x3 come w/factory tint on all the windows or is that an option we can add @ the dealer? I was thinking maybe they can throw that in at the end. |

to each his own on the seats, but for my body type the back of the sport seats, like the area around the small of my back, is too far back (even with the side wings completely deflated) so not much support. for short rides its no problem but for a six hour drive I definitely noticed it - was uncomfortable. i imagine if I had the lumbar support I could have positioned it there to be a lot more comfortable. but then again I don't have it so I don't really know
re. tint - my X3 35i came with the back windows all shaded (its not like a tint film but the glass is dark itself) - but the driver and front passenger windows are clear. And I think the sunroof has the same shading as the back windows. not sure if it came like that due to the Sport Package or if all of them do Last edited by gregoryw1; 02-21-2011 at 11:29 PM.. I'll have a play with my lumbar support and give some feedback on how much it moves.

-Premium Package
Auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors Panoramic moonroof Lumbar support Storage package Interior light package Universal garage-door opener I really like the auto-dimming mirrors particularly in evening commute. The universal garage door opener keeps me from having to have the garage door opener rattling around or clipped to the visor, and I like the openness of the moonroof. Given those three together, the package was worth it to me. Not really sure what the storage package came with, but I got four floor-mount lash points, a cargo net, and a folding box, so those were probably at least part of it. Don't know which interior lights you lose w/o the package, but there are nice floor and cargo space lights that I find very handy -- grabbing the black umbrella or gloves from the floor at night, loading the groceries in back, etc.

thanks for the advice on seat adjustments - I'll give that a try.
totally agree with Nahoa on the lighting package - I didn't get that and wish I had - its awfully dark in the interior at night - and I think I read there are little lights on the outside handles that light up the ground as well when you get in/out - would be nice to have ... but I did get the moonroof as an individual option - and love it, use it every day - it has this cool kid of fabric wind blocker thing that pops up Last edited by gregoryw1; 02-22-2011 at 05:05 AM.. |

Re the auto dimming mirrors.. I have had them on a few cars on the past but my current car does not have them and I really do miss them. If you drive at night at all I would recommend them. I have added them on my X3

Cool wind blocker also lowers back down at a certain speed, which provides a nice indicator that I should probably slow down.

You might go to the bmw website, and build-your-own, changing the interior as desired.

Below are invoice prices
Base $33,810 Sparkling Bronze metallic $500 Black Nevada Leather $0 Fineline Siena wood trim $0 Convenience Package $1,685 Premium Package $3,140 Roof rails in Aluminum Satin $230 Park Distance Control $685 Rear-view camera $365 Destination & Handling: $875 That would be 33810+500+1685+3140+230+685+365+875 = $41290 (Without taxes, plates, doc fee etc..) So I would try to get it below $41750. (Around 500 above invoice), anything beyond that I would say you look for other dealer, even out of state, you will be surprised . As well look for dealers in state or out of state who charge less on documentation fee, thereby you can save some there. I got tire and wheel protection for around 1160$, so would advise you to get that and heard from friends that it is worth money. Keep in mind about X3 Driving event and you will save another $500 there -S |
