I'm in the market for one and was told no plans for the 2.0d in the US.
The diesel would be a perfect engine for this platform, but with diesel fuel prices as ridiculous as they are here, then its a wash on getting better gas mileage but paying more for fuel. ![]() Gotta love our economic system! But if/when there is a 2.0d X3 in the US, I'm all over it! ![]()

Here in NY diesel is about the same as premium +/- a dime (no more than 3%.) Based on my research and painstaking conversion skills I've estimated the X3 2.0d with the 8-auto to come in around or just shy of 40 mpg hwy. Unless diesel is like 1/3 more than premium where you live, it ain't a wash- BRING THE DIESELS!!!! Actually you don't need to bring them they're rolling out of Spartanburg already- LEAVE SOME DIESELS!!!! I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I want an AWD 40+mpg hwy diesel for my daily commute. FWIW if AWD wasn't a requirement for getting out of my driveway in winter I'd be saving my pennies for the 335d- a truly fantastic car- Motortrend agrees:
