New BMW X-Style aka BMW X4 under development?

Name: bmwx4.jpg
Views: 15608
Size: 152.0 KB

This information is from BMW insider Scott26. According to him, on the heels of the BMW X6's success, they have been investigating downsizing the range and bringing the Sport Activity Coupe idea to the X3 range but with a bit more functional flair added and BMW would use the term Sport Activity Sedan. Such a car would likely be dubbed the X4. Internally, the car is known as the X-Style. The same ideas that went into the X6 would be translated to the X4, namely a more sloping and sleek roofline as well as bulging fenders giving the car a wider and lower look compared to its X3 counterpart. The car would also get a two way hatch similar to the 5-Series GT.

This vehicle has not been approved for production yet, but the investigational concept seems to be in full swing!

**** The above picture is just a chassis test mule with an E91 body overlain on the chassis (designed for X3 development), and is not the X4!

I thought that the chief complaint for the X6 was that the Sport Activity Coupe design was less functional than the X5 design? The rear headroom and seating are shit in the X6. How are they going to make it more functional by taking the controversial SAC design and applying it to a smaller platform?

I heard about this about 6 months ago in one of the car magazines (can't remember which one). X6 sells, X4 will sell. Landrover is also coming out soon with a X4 competitor (it will be produced before x4).

I think bmw is producing too many x models...it shouldve stopped at the x1. x4? really? it won't even look good..if that turns out to be an x4 instead of just a bulked up e91

I don't get BMW SAV team. so X1, X3, X4, X6, and X5 all are 5 seaters (I consider X5 is really a 5 seater as well). X5 has option with a 3rd row seat but they are really for Chihuahuas, plus with it you really have no luggage space anymore. Your chihuahuas in the 3rd row seat will have to hold your luggage. furthermore, you can't get spare tire option with the 3rd row seat! I can deal with my daily driver with no spare, but not my SAV/SUV! NO I am soooo done with RFTs.

like Audi Q5 - 5ppl; Q7 - 7ppl.. simplicity is the best. sorry just needed to

Maybe BMW 3 Series xRoad to rival Audi A4 Allroad?

And if X4, then better X2, an X1 with 2 doors. Anyway I am tired of BMW X extension, I would rather prefere BMW Z extension. Where is the BMW Z2 and Z8/Z9?

I'd buy an X4 if they made it. I love the X6 but it is just too far out of my price range, I'll never spend 65k on a car. An X4 would be a great compliment to a 1 series for an outdoors and city person like myself. Bring it.

Might as well add an x2 (SAC version of the x1) and x7 and x8 as well...

I seriously have no problem with this, BMW obviously knows what its doing. I also think "niche" vehicles are the way of the future, instead of selling 10 million units of the same car, they'll sell 14 million variants of similar cars with slightly different purposes. Makes sense to me...
