Walk up unlock/ walk away lock

The comfort access walk up unlock and walk away relock, doesn’t seem to always work.

I worked on the weekend, and today I had the fob in my jeans and I had to put my hand on the handle to unlock.

I went into settings and confirmed these are checked off.

Was this happening because my X3 hasn’t been driven since Saturday?

Yes. This also happened to me when my X4 has not been used for 2 weeks when we went on vacation. It seems we had to manually unlock and do a start for a reboot and recognize everything. No biggie.

Yup had a similar experience, just need to push the button once in a very long time.

Sometimes if I just simply take it out of the pocket, it will start working, maybe the pocket is too thick? Idk

Similar experience to mine as well, it’s intermittent at best.

I’m not to bothered as the car doors do open as soon as I grab and pull the door handle.

Well, I guess I was curious so I looked it up in the manual.

If the car has been idle for several days, the walk up Auto Unlock won’t work until the car is driven.

Permission to jump in... there may be a way around it, as to remote start the bimmer while idle for en extended time... via remote AC climate control setting

Well... thats wat i use when leave d car idle for more than 3 days... just to keep d oil and battery circulating also when not in use

Unsure for any harm done to other parts, been applyin it for over 2yrs... so far so good and it helps in my case thou

I typically use my phone to lock / unlock my car. I have found that even if I have used that only the day before, the contactless unlock with the key will not work. But as soon as the car has been unlocked by placing my hand in the door handle, the contactless unlocking is enabled again.
