Nope. And the issue is two-fold:

1. The least expensive full cat back option for a X3 M40i is going to run about $1,000 more than the AA downpipe.
2. If you already have a 40i with the sport exhaust then the factory downpipe is what's holding back the sound currently.

Yeah I took it to Matrix Integrated in my area. They quoted me the price, said the labor cost. I even provided the catted downpipe.

I've looked at some videos but was hesitant to do it myself. I'm not confident working around modern engines, grew up on S2000 tech. But I'll give it a shot.

Yeah I realize I way overpaid. I was hoping the shop that did it would be a reputable one, but I guess I'm wrong.

Then either live with the light or you need a tune like MHD or BM3 to clear out the CEL.
Hi, I'm new to the x3 m40i and considering a upgraded DP. If i install the DP and add an MHD stage 2 tune will that stop any warning lights on the dash?

When you tick the box for the aftermarket downpipe in MHD, you will have no warning lights on the dash.

Do you have a copy of the invoice? Seeing as how you provided the parts, this job should have been all labor. What is the shop's labor rate? Did they charge you 8 hours to install a downpipe?

Sounds like maybe 12 hours. I think this is one of those cases where they didn't want to do the job and threw out an absurd price to send the customer searching somewhere else, but the customer bit. Maybe they didn't want the potential hassle of F-ing with emissions parts? Who knows.

As for the previous post, no desire to go for a tune. At most it would just be some type of piggyback module.
4000 miles after installation and no CEL

It works 👌

I ran my AA 400 catted downpipe for 5k miles and no CEL, it sounded great and really woke up the car. I’m also selling mine gently used if your in Cali!
