Where to get a copy of mechanical key in SF?
Hi there,
The mechanical backup/glovebox key for my MY 2013 F25 no longer stays clicked into my key fob. I bought a blank online, now I need just a copy of that mechanical key made. Anyone know of a place in or near SF that can do that besides the dealerships? Thanks.

Can the dealer even do it or do they order them from Germany based on VIN? That's how most key things work from BMW. I doubt a dealer will cut your blank even if they can. Let us know if you find someone.

Are you sure the metal key (#2) is the problem? Did you try inserting it into your other remote fob (#1) to see if it stays secure in that remote? What if the problem is the remote fob (#1) itself?
In regard to having the metal key blade cut…you’ll need to call around to local keysmiths because as Opie55 wrote above…the BMW dealership doesn’t “cut” BMW keys. They order them from a regional office that will send them the keyblade already cut based on your BMW’s VIN. Look at your key…if the blade is not cut around the edges like typical keys, then the keysmith will need special equipment that can replicate the type of cut most modern BMWs have.
