P112F
Hi All,
I just got a CEL on my 2012 X3 35i (110k miles), its P112F (MAP sensor), anyone ran into this CEL and replacing MAP sensor resolved it? Thank you |

Im in the middle of a nightmare with the code P112F. 2012 x3 35i w/ 128,xxx miles. The charge pipe and MAP were replaced about 9 months ago but didn't solve the intermittent problem. Car runs great except for a rough idle. Had it at a good BMW specialist here in LA, and they couldn't find the source after having the car for 3 days. They ruled out any intake leaks (did pressurized smoke tests), carbon build up, fuel line air leaks, valve cover, oxygen sensor stems, etc. The list went on. They want to take apart the top end to do tests on the timing, as they believe that perhaps the timing chain has stretched. Since it was an 8+ hour job to do the test and confirm the suspicion I held off. Currently have the car at a smog repair specialist to have another pair of eyes on it. One question I have for you is your EVAP readiness monitor in the INC, or non-ready state? Mine will not go into the ready state no matter what. I really feel its the fuel vent valve as that is really the only correlation between the two items (code and not ready state). Though the fuel tank vent has been tested multiple times and has been working every time, I feel perhaps its intermittent when its gets to a certain temp, or? Im in CA and therefore cannot re-register the car which I need to. Its really a mess.
btw - I only have the P112F code, no others. Last edited by turnstile; 11-06-2020 at 03:01 PM.. |

Update: had the shop replace the fuel tank vent and the problem persists. He believes it's an electrical problem (bad wire in one of the harnesses) due to the intermittent nature. He will reset the code, and it will come back immediately. He will then reset it again and it won't come back for several hours. He does it again, and this time it will come back in half an hour.

Fault Code Description
The diagnosis monitors the plausible position of the throttle valve in relation to the applied intake pipe vacuum. Fault monitoring conditions The fault is recognised when the monitored mass flow rate rises above a limit value. Fault Code Conditions General Conditions Voltage precondition - Vehicle voltage between 9 V and 16 V Temperature precondition - Coolant temperature less than 60 °C Time precondition - 10.5 s Other preconditions - Engine ON - Speed dynamics (speed window) greater than 333 rpm - Load dynamics (load window) greater than 19% Terminal status - Terminal 15 on Terminal Condition Driving Conditions Fault Time Condition The fault is entered immediately. Service Plan Check the intake system and crankcase for leaksCheck the throttle valve (dirt, carbon residue, icing)Check the wiring harness between the DME and intake pipe pressure sensorCheck the wiring harness between the electromotive throttle controller and DMERenew the intake pipe pressure sensor |

With regard to the EVAP monitor, if you go into the OBD2 there is a menu item called IM Readiness or System Readiness. In there you will see all of the monitors and their state. My Autel scanner shows either OK or INC for incomplete.

One thing you should definitely do is the DME adaptation process (see attached PDF). The shop did it for me, as well as do everything in the test plan, but it didn't seem to do anything. Ive been thinking about doing it again myself since having the vent valve replaced, and throttle body cleaned. The location of the vent valve connector you remove is in the attached image (Item #1). It's to the left of the throttle body. It can be easily accessed w/o doing anything under the hood.

Disconnect prior to starting car. Idle at the very least 15mins. Reconnect while running. Clear codes. Good luck!

I went to see a mechanic that works on my car, we had the car running and were checking on some other noise that i am hearing and it sounds weird, so he had me rev the car multiple times, then he opened the oil cap (the car was running) and closed it, then the car ran for a bit and it died on its own, i was like hmm that's weird, started the car back up and it was fine. Then i drove away, probably 5 min and boom CEL came on, went back to him, he cleared the code and on the way home it came back on again..not sure if opening the Oil cap created the CEL...make me think though... |

UPDATE: I decided to run the adaptation again as per the TSI I posted. I did this yesterday just after I posted here. I figured it couldn't hurt doing again, seeing as the fuel vent had been replaced, as well as the throttle body cleaned. I then cleared the codes, and...no more code. Its gone everywhere including the pending and permanent memories. Ive since done 4 driving cycles, and driven over 120 miles and still no codes have appeared. I'm so happy, as I just passed smog here in CA just a few hours ago. To think I've spent weeks chasing down this problem, and it has finally been resolved.

Hoping that the OP runs the adaptation process and has the same results as I.

P112F code
Hey guys is there any updates to this thread? I am having this same issue for the past few years with the code coming back more frequently lately. Did the adaptation and throttle body cleaning do the trick?
