Engine Screech/Squeel
Hi
I was driving my F25 N47 2.0d Xdrive home the other day and it felt as if the car was hesitating a little, almost like it was low on fuel , short quick drops in power. When I got to a hill I kept the revs up to about 4000 rpm up the hill to see if it would clear. After the hill I heard a loud chirping/squeel noise and an engine knock/tap. Engine was low on power and I drove slowly home as it was not far. started it up again to take video https://youtube.com/shorts/3bc4q8HIkJ4 Car was battling to start and seemed to be running a bit rough, shake and knock. I have asked a couple people who immediately suggested rod bearing failure, however The chirp sound is what gets me, another suggestion was that the exhaust flap was blocked causing the turbo to squeal? In the video you can see smoke coming from around the turbo area. The chirp sound is definitely on the turbo side of the motor. Might be un related , but two weeks ago I had oil dripping onto the catalytic converter, had ordered a new rocker cover gasket to fit this weekend then this happened. I have also been struggling with very bad fuel consumption since I bought the car, cleaned out intake manifold and EGR about 5-6000 miles ago ( 6 months) , intake was completely gunked up. Swirl flaps are in place but permanently open ( actuator arm removed and swirl flap rod fixed in place) . At the time I monitored injectors with bimmer tool and none were over fuelling or out of sync. Any suggestions? Much appreciated. |
