Well I mean when it comes to M engines at least I' know a few members who do hard-break in. This being an M-tuned engine, depending on what the manual say, I am opting to do a 500 mile break-in as in the video.

BMW says to not exceed 170 kph for the first 2K kms - this is because doing a V-Max run or hard accel can damage the ring & pinion gears in the diff(s) and cause a noise during steady/or light throttle cruising(noise goes away on deccel).

Btw... I'm liking those new gauges/design!

There is no evidence that break in periods are required or do anything, they are 100% for liability/insurance purposes if a car does fail within the first few months of usage so BMW can say you didn't follow the proper break in, we are not responsible.

I have never "broken" a car in, in my life, and never will.

The true character of a BMW is sweet straight six. i really love the sound it makes and to me it signature BMW. Driving the current M4, I often wonder why they did not replicate this character.

You have to look for places on the Autobahn to go above 170 kph though, it's really easy to never exceed that speed unless your trying.

Looks like 0-60/100 mph in about 4.5-4.6/11.7. Won't quite keep w a Macan Turbo but will smoke an SQ5. Can't wait to see a JB on this car!

I saw a russian site on IG @dtmrace.ru saying stage1 for M40i is 420hp/390tq and stage2 440hp/420tq

Well Macan Turbo is 400hp lol but they haven't tested it against that yet

GTS is 360hp so its suppose to be comparable to this

Macan S 340hp loses to X4 35i in 1/4 mile and 0-60 (Youtube review of both)

So maybe on paper 1 looks better but real world testing is different.

I bet this motor is underrated like all the others and makes more like 400+ at the crank. My n54 made close to crank hp at the wheels, and my m5 made 550wheel so I'm sure it's probably close here as well.

I joined the Macan forums already lol trying to see which local macans want to compare and test in a friendly manner. I know I've seen a lot of bmw owners here that would rather own a Macan but none in the area except 1 or 2.
