The X4 is still very nice. I am well over its look now.
Exactly, as a current X3 28i owner drove it stock and then tuned. Driving the X3 35i that Crashnbrn5 had leased was def a sleeper stock and tuned would had been a monster. Drove an X4 35i M-Sport w/ 20's at the BMW Drive Event and boy that car can handle .

This will be a great SAV and it will fill in the hole; for now.

And tuners will find a safe and reliable way to get 440hp out of this engine.

It's funny, remember when the 1st 4.8is X5 came out. People were drooling for that NA inspired 355 hp V8. It was an amazing engine, developed by the M division. For its time, even that X5 was very capable.

Now this new technology, and light weight materials, the x4 with 355hp will be the real deal, at least until then X3M/X4M come out in 2 years.
Exactly!

For those also talking about SQ5 , these are the words from a current SQ5 owner " I really like the SQ5, but in general, I've always been an Audi guy. We didn't really consider the X3, because I didn't like the engine options. We did consider the X5, but it was a bit too expensive, and we didn't need such a big car (and I couldn't justify getting the M version which is what I would have wanted haha). Nice choice with the X4 M40. We really need the full SUV trunk space though, so that and the X6 weren't really options either.

The only thing I don't like about the SQ5 is the stock suspension, because the ride height is the standard Q5 height so that Audi can qualify it as a light truck. I took care of that with some suspension upgrades, but it will never have the road feel of a BMW. "

Saw 3-4K off on cars.com

x4 35i M sport drove surprisingly well! I just can't commit to an SUV but if I did, it would be a Macan turbo.

IMO X4 M40i is not quite at the level of a Macan S, but there is definitely some pricing overlap.

My M40i build is $68k. While you can build a pretty damn nice Macan S for that money; my Macan S would build out to a solid $78k. That $78k Macan is on a significantly different level though.

Yeah but standart macan S (at least uk) comes pretty well spec. Standart hifi better than premium I had on my x3 for instance. I really really dont get how could someone sit inside the macan, then the x4 drive both and then choose the bimmer! But then again look at the us elections ! World gonne mad!

M40i is on par with Macan GTS in terms of performance..
There will be a new Q5, but also X3 and X4 will be replaced soon so the "best in class" position is continuously changing..

The funny part is, the X4 35i beats the Macan S in 1/4 mile and 0-60
The M40i will have no prob destroying the GTS =D

YUN, this is not the way to do it - unless you want to prove that BMW is better! An inexperienced driver might do this - his/her loss.
Very probably she would have gone up also with the Q5, if just more throttle.

Umm...no, no it's not.

Different closed-deck block, pistons, etc. Nothing like a stand N55...only in name. Right out of the M2.

My LBB X4 m40i finally made it to the dealer today.
Going to swing by after dinner and take a look... maybe go for a short drive (summer tires in the current conditions is suicidal)

Taking delivery Monday.

Roundown, I seem to recollect that Q5 has North-South installation and Torsen - not Haldex.
As I pointed out to YUN, if she just had put on more throttle - very likely the Q5 would have climbed. This was a rigged show done by BMW.

The good news is that the Swedish Auto Motor och Sport, made an extensive winter-AWD test a couple of years ago - BMW come out as best and with most joy of driving.
