Advice on 2011 X3
Hi all - I've never owned a SAV and have test driven the first generation (2008) and 2012. After driving both I definitely want the 2nd generation since I plan on keeping the car long term. Given my budget I probably will have to rule out the new 2013. Any thoughts on 2011 vs 2012 in terms or reliability or new technology improvements? I know that the 2012 model has the eco/stop/start technology and will have more warranty but is it worth it to pay the extra money for the new model? Thanks for your help.

2013 is the model year they introduced the start/stop technology and the 4 cylinder engine.
2012 is largely the same as the 2011 model year.. in fact MY2012 was a very short run. |

The 2013 28i with the n20 would be the best choice right now
has a lot more stuff standard than the 2012.

I have the 2013 28i with the new 4 banger and could not be happier with it. Great MPG and shifting to sport mode reminds you that your in a BMW

I have a 2011 that was built first week of sept - 35i - i love it. If you go 28i, sure the N20 is a better option but you don't see people moaning about the inline 6 it replaced in the 11/12 28i. I testdrove a few - you can't go wrong, if you can get a good CPO 2011 go for it. Someone noted issue about the pre-april builds - it may be wise to figure out the build date if you can.
If you can afford a new one, the process of ordering waiting seeing video of it built is all really a cool experience.

I have a 2011 28i with around 26k trouble free miles. It's quick enough for local traffic and country back roads. Sport setting adds a lot to the feel

What model 6 cyl gives you 258hp?
Sounds like you're deciding between a 20i and a 30iS (?). They seem very different in output so that's totally up to you what your preferences are. The 6cyl is super smooth but it's more expensive and you probably have to pay some kind of displacement tax where you are. |
