I have had on and off steering pull and unbalanced steering force issues and had the update done over two weeks ago. On the workorder they stated that they "Performed electronic steering wheel calibration". The steering was good when I picked it up, but it is still intermitantly pulling to the right and generally unbalanced between left and right turning force and smoothness. Even when not pulling to the right, it turns much easier and smoother to the right. Very dissappointing. Also, the steering is a bit looser overall I would say since having the update done. FYI, I don't have any options that give me the ability to adjust the steering on my car. I have an July 1, 2011 x 35i.

Has anyone been told if this update is for all x3 or just certain build dates? Thanks for all the info.

The throttle lag TSB is specifically for builds up to 1/16/12. So anything built before that date should be covered.

my rig is in the shop, still. the dealer did a download of the software from the BMW mothership over the weekend and they are attempting to download it to my car.

fingers crossed.

I hope the NOR and the NAND flash behave today and do what they are told!

Mine is getting in the shop on thursday. They said that the throtle lag is normal and to select sport mode to get rid of it and that there is no recall on that matter

When i've suggested if i could send them the BMW bulletin about reprogramming the lag throttle she just stop talking. So it's getting reprogrammed tomorrow

I'll report back with results. (montreal south shore).

I suppose there is no commission on warranty work.

I'm sure the SA would be glad to take your money for some unscheduled (billable service).

Quick update on how this software is performing......

- i had the updates for sport/normal suspension turned off on idrive, they are now back on and I think the option menu looks a little different. No big deal, I turned it back off
- auto vent settings (time) disappeared (I set it back up)
- throttle feels frickin' awesome! wow! Feels like the 328i E91 that I've been driving for the last week.
- I read that the steering may change with this update, it may have, not totally sure.
- car makes EGR/fuel pump noises now. It did this at shut down when I arrived home. It was as if the car burped? Probably no big deal, as the BMW guys probably adjusted something with EGR and with fuel pressure. Prior to this, I only heard the infamous (whoosh) when I opened up the car in the morning.
- if I notice anything with fuel pressure priming tomorrow morning that is different, I'll let you know.
- I did have the rough idle signature at cold start up. Never cared, but am reading it should be fixed.
- finally, I have one high grade mountain road curve below my house, I use manual shift mode, and go down to 2nd. Before, I had to turn off DSC to get enough momentum to get up the switch back (never had the problem with an E91, nor my old E83), however, with the new software on the F25, it performs well! wow! I think I can spin the tires now if I wanted to! (with DSC off, of course!)

good luck, all!

had my done at Grand River BMW yesterday in Kitchener. the transmission is infinitely smoother now. before at lower speeds it almost feels like it was downshifting and using engine braking to slow down the car to kick in brake regeneration, resulting in the previous jerkiness. now its smooth as butter. I did notice on normal mode, if you gas it the shifting times have decreased.

also previously when starting the engine, it would go up to 2500-3000 rpm and then settle back down at 1500rpm or so, and even higher on cold starts. now when it starts, it goes up to 1500rpm and settles at 700rpm(!).

the steering wheel is definitely lighter.

also, I noticed some minor graphical changes to the LCD in the instrument cluster. all very minor. the first thing I noticed was the font color for the "Please fasten your seat belt" text is now red (pretty sure it was white before?). I think the number indicators on the fuel consumption is now larger as well.

I have a June 2011 build x35i.

I noticed a new option in settings that lets me configure what happens when I shift into sport mode. I can pick sport drivetrain and chassis, sport drivetrain only, or sport chassis only. Pretty sure that wasn't there before?

Same with ours after the upgrade. New menu option was available.

The software update was done today. Acceleration is much smoother in normal mode.

some minor changes in the menus:
- The "buckle your seat belt" warning is now red. Was white before
- I have additionnal menu settings for bmw service calls.
- i now have an office menu, but i'm not certain if it was there before.
- MPG avg and speed limit warning where reseted.
- The front desk girls to whom i paid the bill is freakin hot, but she was
hot before the software upgrade

I will have to do some more testing in different sport mode and will report on my findings.

X3 now looks great with the summer wheels on.

Just got my car back today after doing the update. The update takes roughly 4-6 hours according to a service advisor so make sure to allot enough time if you wish to get the car back the same day.

After the update the car seems much more responsive and acceleration is very linear, no longer does the car take 1 or 2 seconds to "think" before speeding up. I even tried testing the car the same way as the Motor Trend article by quickly slowing down then speeding up and I wasn't able to find any faults with throttle response.

I suggest anyone experiencing issues to take their X3 in and get the update asap. As Sivakumarbalu said "D" pretty much feels like "DS" now.

Similar story, had my car serviced Friday and brought it back to get update done today. The attractive woman at the reception desk wore a too small low cut shirt both times, not that I'm going to stare or anything but it really doesn't help when the receptionist table is like 3 feet tall and there's a lot of paperwork to sign.

Anybody knows if this software update also solves the throttle lag issue with the X3 20d model? Or is it only for the bigger engines?

Unfortunately this specific update is directed specifically at the N52 and N55 motors.

We've had the update for 5 days now. The improvement is really great. No more awkward launches. I think there are still times where the ZF8 gets confused (try coming to a top but right before you are about to stop hit the gas, our still thinks for a second then decides to go). If we come to a complete stop then go the smoothness is so much better than before. All in all seems like a great update.

Yes, improved linearity in throttle response, but saying that it feels like DS is too big a step for me. Driving a 35i in normal mode is pretty dull. Should defacto be in Sport mode when starting the engine. Anyhow, i will now drive it more often in normal mode when traffic is not an issue.

I got it done on my 2011 X3 yesterday. It took nearly 6 hrs to get it done.

I notice improved performance during acceleration from stop. Detailed performance yet to be evaluated over period of time.

I notice a significant improvement from my 2013 when compared to the 2012 I originally test drove. I'm extatic I didn't get a car with the original defective programming.

I will not say that the old programming was defective but yes now the update has totally changed the way it responds at low speeds. If you want to have fun, go for the update, I didnt notice any change in mpg.
