Three levels of gunnage in my little family of scary black guns

-Plinking on the cheap with a gun that'll last forever
-Home defense in two levels: "what was that sound?" and "destroy!"
-Just because I can/exercise my rights/end of the fucking world

I never even owned a gun until a few years ago. When the "assault weapons" ban lapsed though I figured I'd exercise my rights while I still can.

Yeah its the 20. Nice Aug and ACOG. Is that a real silencer? or just the extension to make the barrel proper length?

We gotta hold on to our guns, now that MSAR is pretty much gone.

It's a Ratworx thread adapter and a Gemtech M4-02.
Mine ha2 the 16" barrel, must I'm thinking about having it re-cut to 1/2x28 thread size. The adapter is too bulky for my liking.

How well does the suppressor work?

Not sure I want to pay $200 and wait 6 months.

My neighbor has one on his AR-15. It works really well. We live in a suburban area. If he were to shoot it in his back yard, people driving by in cars would never hear it, and people walking down the sidewalk would think "what's that funny 'fwump!' sound?"

It works well. Obviously, .223 suppression is limited, but it's hearing safe. It doesn't suppress as well as an AR, but it's still a ton of fun.

Try and shoot one before you buy one. Especially on that Aug.

Unless of course you have an AR and or 10/22. Both are common hosts for .223 cans.

Chances are pretty low...hard enough finding people nearby with just an Aug.

Maybe sometime in the future. Or put it on my AR when it gets to me..already been 9 weeks with no end in sight.

Well, I did a little more gun shopping today. I owe this thread some new pictures, I'll post some up in a couple of weeks, after I pick up my two new toys.

I bought a Glock 26, and a Daniel Defense M4 Carbine. My first center fire rifle, now to pick some AR accessories for it....any recommendations for sights/optics? Nothing is mounted at the moment. Thoughts would be appreciated.

What are you planning to do with it? Run and gun? I suggest red dot ( Eotech, Aimpoint, Etc.) long range? ( good rifle scope like burris, nightforce, nikkon, leopold, etc.)

Try to practice with the irons first of course.

No set plans, after some research I am leaning toward an Eotech set up.

There are some Tactical Rifle (and handgun for that matter) classes at a local range that are interesting, now its a matter of finding the time....and ammo, people are getting stupid again.

Congrats on the purchases! Daniel Defense currently makes one of the best M4-style rifles available.

In terms of optics, if all you are looking for is a red dot and no magnification, go with the Aimpoint T1 Micro with LaRue Tall Mount (LT660) and don't look back.

The T1 is built like a tank, extremely light, and the battery lasts for 5 years if you leave it on continuously.

I prefer the tall mount which allows for a 1/3 co-witness. An absolute co-witness defeats the purpose of having the red dot in the first place, IMHO.

If you want a permanently magnified setup with your optic and are willing to drop $1,000 or more, you should just get a Trijicon ACOG.

http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/produc...php?pid=TA33-8 (one among several options; the model I linked also offers 3x magnification).

What exactly are you looking for? What are your requirements for the optic?

Best pure red dot site on the market right now - Aimpoint T1 (2MOA, best battery life by far, built extremely well).

Second best option (a close second) - EOTech XPS.

If you want to see how tough the Aimpoint T1 is, watch this:

Second best option (a close second) - EOTech XPS.

To be perfectly honest I just like cool stuff, and I appreciate quality fire arms for the industrial art that they are.

I don't want a permanently magnified optic on a gun like this, but I do like the option of magnification. I'll watch some videos and do a little more reading if I have the chance tonight.

I do appreciate your thoughts, like I said I know almost nothing about the AR and its accessories and what I do know, I have learned in the 4 day or so.
