k&n filter for x3
Just got my new 2012 BMW X3M and was just thinking about putting a k&n filter in. Is it a good idea or not ? this is my first BMW and with all the computer gizmos etc. is this a good idea or worth while? I have always installed one in my previous vehicles 97 corvette, 2005 ford f150. Appreciate your thoughts
Thanks. |

Check out this thread
http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showth...ighlight=k%26n It's not recommended that you change out the OEM filter for a K&N one or any aftermarket ones since BMW could potentially void your warranty. |

There has been quite a bit written in the forums about this subject. I have had K&N filters in about 15 vehicles in the last 20 yrs and have had no problems related to these filters, but after reading how poorly they filter out the smaller particulate matter I will use them no more. I put a K&N in my 2010 Z4 35i for a few thousand miles but replaced it with the OEM after reading the specs. on the K&N. My X3 will use one OEM air filters.
