I don't believe so
I have a brochure from the old X3 and no mention of cooled and multi-adjustable comfort seats, just standard comfort seats or sports seats, nor were they available on the 3 Series. They were and are available on the X5/X6 though.

Other detailed changes
"For autumn 2011, an already diverse range of standard equipment and special options will be further boosted by a number of specific enhancements. The convenience of the Auto Hold function, for example, will be augmented by the automatic release of the electromechanical parking brake. The range of mobility services from BMW ConnectedDrive will likewise be extended. In conjunction with a navigation system, the Real-Time Traffic Information function will also be available for the new BMW X3 from autumn 2011"
Is the 1st enhancement a big deal? I thought we already had RTTI in the US? |

Found out yesterday my AUgust build is actually week 38 build - mid / late September - which means they are in the hypothetical 2012 MY.
Buggered if I can get any details as to what difference there will be int he AUstralian models. We dont get the wide range of packages outside of M SPort. MOstly its all options one at a time (they charge more that way) If they were adding some more standard fruit then I might save a few bucks. If anyone hears about AUstralian MY12 changes I woud appreciate the heads up. Only tidbit I heard was that the Directors of BMW Oz were in Munich for the release of the new 1 series - so they might bring back some MY12 model update data on the 18th of AUgust. ![]()

Very, very disappointed that the 35i is now only available with the moonroof. For me it's a total deal breaker. I wouldn't consider a X3 without the 35i engine, but don't want a moonroof and would not take it if it were offered at no cost.

you know there is a shade that goes over the roof which basically makes the moonroof look like a normal roof on the inside, right? With the shade pulled shut, it looks no different than a regular roof.

I've had (3) recent vehicles with a sun/moon roof: A Honda Accord Wagon, Audi A4 2.8, a Subaru Legacy GT turbo. Never used any of them more than once or twice, and felt I was forced to purchase a feature that I had no use for. My dislike for sun/moonroofs I'll never use is because of: 1. The external appearance of the vehicle. I just don't like the way the roof looks with the surface broken up by the glass. It's also harder to wash the vehicle. 2. The additional weight at the highest possible place on the vehicle. It raises the center of gravity, which is already too high on a X3. 3. The added mechanical components, which in a small percentage of vehicles will fail. Several Forum members have already had moonroof failures. Additionally, a sun/moonroof is always a potential source of leaks as the vehicle ages and gaskets/seals wear and harden. 4. Although not really significant in the X3, there is a reduction of headroom. 5. Paying for something one does not want or will ever use. I'm all for offering the moonroof as an option as BMW did on the 2011 models, but being forced to take it, or not being able to get the N55 engine would cause me to look elseware for a vehicle. I have no issues at all with those who enjoy driving with a moonroof and fully understand the value to some people. I'm fortunate to have other vehicles, so if I want open air driving I can choose an open roadster with no top (bonnet) at all. My issue is not with the value of having a moonroof, the problem I have is being forced to take it. |

1. Agree with the lot above.
I've chosen a sunroof once. Leaked in the mount ISA's high UV sunshine. Forced to have it since. Hated it. Drive a convertible as a dd and love it, but it has a folding metal roof. Perfect.

Yes China's unfair import duty is mostly to blame. However the margins are still much higher for BMW in China. 2X price and 2X cost still equals 2X profit per unit.

my bad. i'm not that good with english in spelling.
if it is the glossy black paint that they refer to, i prefer the non-gloss paint because i don't know if thee high gloss paint will fade over time. people who has aluminium and titanium interior in e46 3 series were having problem with paint peel off or crack after ownignt he car for 5 yrs. |

From my local BMW Dealer:
"Hi Kevin, All 2011 Model X3's are now sold out and 2012 orders are starting to go through. If you would like, the 2012 pre-order wait list is up and running and we are ordering them based on 2011 pricing. Remember, this will be with the new N20 engine which is theoretically 15% more fuel efficient with the same amount of power. Thanks and have a great day!" |
