Question OEM Cross Bar Installation

Hi,

I bought the Base Support System (part #: 82712338614) cross bars for my X3 and have a question regarding the installation.

The manual says to tighten the screw using the turn lever until the screw will no longer turn. From there, you are supposed to fold the lever in without using force. This seems to be impossible - the only way I can fold the lever in with minimal force is to loosen the screw by a turn and a half. The clamp is still pretty darn tight when I do it this way.

Anyone else have this issue or insight into what I could be doing wrong?

I did it the same way as you described. Screw turned tight just enough so that the lever will fold in with adequate force.
