X3 B46B engine

Hi folks,

Quick one. Is the above mentioned car/engine a mild hybrid?
The base model X3.

I'm looking at ordering a new one & took my wife in for a more formal
test drive. At the end, the sales guy said something about this being a
hybrid, similar to the m40. I said I don't think so. I've never seen any
info regarding this. I said, please prove this to me.
He went to the MSRP sticker & found no info there. He then said all new
BMW's have this type of system. I couldn't comment on that.
I asked wouldn't it say something about this on the msrp? Or anyplace?
He said the all the 3 & 4 series describe that. Fine, I'm not interested in
one of those.

So, forum members help. What's the answer?

In some markets the G01 2.0l 4 cylinder engines have the 48v MHEV tech, but afaik, the US market doesn’t have this, except for the G01 M40i.

Should be easy to see the MHEV option from the VIN, IIRC it's option code "1CE Mild Hybrid Technology", and you can also check for the MHEV power flow infographic in iDrive 7.

In the UK we’ve had this for a while, so there’s a danger that given the global nature of internet info people may be confused by what’s offered in different countries, or different models.

Also important that only the 2022+ G01 M40i have the mild hybrid 48V. It was well worth buying (2) 2021 M40i to avoid getting a "feature" that would never be used and just cost me money eventually.

It was ironic that power is rated the same but MPG isn't rated any better, and actually worse on highway by 1 mpg.

Just from a global view, the pre LCI G01 M40d had the 48v MHEV about a year before the LCI. Don’t think is available in the US anyway.

Thanks for confirming what I thought. Stupid sales guy.
I understand he's got a lot of vehicles to know about, but...
The funny/sad part is, he said he owns a newer X3. LOL

It’s actually pretty easy to see from the US ordering guide, so a dealer should know better, but you average dealer sales guy doesn’t know is arse from is elbow.

It’s a G02 MY 2025 ordering guide, but you get the idea. Just look at standard equipment between 30i and M40i for option 1CE.
