Why no i-drive in the X3??
Just sold my wife's 328xi coupe and got her an X3. She really got used to the i-drive and we were wondering why it is not yet in the X3?

the X3 is based on the older model 3 series, that didn't have idrive, if memory serves. the car's just not built to have it. wait for the redesign in a couple of years, and it'll be an option.

You did notice this before the purchase, right? I too am wondering. There are several technologies not available for the X3. The NAV system seems antiquated without iDrive. No 6FL either. No rear seat climate vents....
Not sure why BMW does not bring it up to date.

As mentioned previously, the current X3 is based on the E46 platform and the next generation X3, presumably MY2010, will be based on the E90 platform.
