Updating iDrive software. How to find current version. Upgrade Release Notes

I have a '12 X3 with pro nav (8.8 inch screen), Tech Package. I'm pretty impressed with the system overall but I'm curious what updates, enhancements or fixes have been made available since 2012.

Anyone have an idea how to:

1) Find the current software version my car is using?

2) Find a list of fixes/enhancements that have been made available to date?

The main thing I'm hoping to get a fix for is the display of album art in SiriusXM mode and HD Radio. I'm currently only seeing the track info for those, no album art for either. I believe my 2012 has 2G hardware onboard if it matters. BMW told me an upgrade to 4G would be appx $1K

Update: I was able to find the info and I've updated the software. It seems BMW is a bit behind the times as the latest software only mentions up to and including iphone 6. WTF?

I'm still not sure why I can't get access to Siri when I have my iphone connected to the car. I have an iphone 6, btw.

This does not update the iDrive software as a whole. It just updates compatability for external devices via USB and BT.

Ok... so HD radio and SiriusXM get data via airwaves from a broadcast towers or satellites. it has to be supported by the broadcaster. Sometimes you get the Radio station logo, sometimes you get album art. This has nothing to do with your telematics unit. Telematics are use for connected drive features as well as ARTTI, RTTI.

The latest update for CIC is UPD01008. On first gen CIC, this update erased BMW Apps and people needed to pay $$$ if they wanted the function. Was free before the update.

Hi, I know I am super late with this quote, but did you manage to find a way to check for an available update? I have the same issue, the website gives me the same error message still.

I have a 2016 X3 and was trying to update...

Sorry. I ended up selling the car last year. I don't recall that I had it working.
