Can BMW Apps be retro-fitted to X4?
Hello
I have an X4 SE being delivered on Monday 11th May, and I have the Professional Media option, but not BMW Apps (at least I certainly didn't add or pay extra for that). Is BMW Apps something that can be retro-fitted in the UK, does anybody know? I'm interested in using the iOS Spotify app in the car with proper integration. Thanks in advance for any answers. |

I think it is included in the media pack professional .. I have downloaded the connected app from the Apple Store and from reading the handbook it seems that if you plug your iPhone in using the lightning cable then you can access the apps through your phones signal
I haven't had the chance to try it yet only had the car two days

Maybe it is included in the BMW ConnectedDrive Services? This seems to be included in the Professional Media option, since you cannot select both in the BMW Configurator.
Perhaps I'll have the BMW App features without even trying! |

Rob there are three apps on the iTunes Store :
Connected drive Bmw remote Bmw drivers guide ( which is a online owners manual) The connected drive one gives you apps .. Drivers guide offers you the chance to see exactly what your car does ., if you put in your vin it makes it bespoke to your car spec I do think you have it Andy

Here in Belgium if you have Connected Drive, you can afterwards get the BMW Apps if you order them via their website. Then you have the Apps in your iDrive (like email, RTTY, internet, ...). these work via the SIM card in your car (you get that with the connected drive).
This has nothing to do with your iPhone. Apps on your iPhone use your iPhone SIM and some of those apps might visualise in the iDrive. |

Well the answer to this is...
I picked up my X4 Xdrive2.0d SE on Monday. Only significant option I chose was the Professional Media option. Turns out that the ConnectedDrive features and apps are included in that package. The only options I don't have are 'Internet Access' (a web browser) and some sort of music-streaming service from BMW with a one-off charge of over £200. I do have Spotify (although it is broken with Spotify for iOS v3.0, fix coming soon). There is a list of other apps I could use, Deezer, AudioBooks, Amazon Music, Napster, TuneIn Radio and a few others. Seems like the 'BMW Apps' option is included in Professional Media. |
