How Many Extras/How Much Extra did you pay for your X3?
Hi All,
Just wondering how far most of you went on the extra on your new X3's? Here in Australia the 3.0D is $85K AUD including all tax's and dealer chargers. After adding all the extras mine ended up at $105k, that was after a nice discount (M-Sport Upgrade for free)......Feel so over priced when comparing to you lucky guys in the US and UK. But it is going to be a nice car which I'll keep for a while. Are other countries stung as bad as us in AUS for extra? Cya Rod |

Got a couple grand off is all. I believe the US and AUD are about the same right now, so I guess we are a lot cheaper! And I get to get pick it up at the factory |

I'm wondering if that is due to BMW's price structure or does Australia impose a high import duty? Either way, you have our sympathy. |

Something does add up.....we have 15% import duty, then 10% GST.
Then Luxury Car Tax which is where we get stung. If the car uses less than 7L/100Km's. We pay 33% of the GST exclusive portion of the vehicle purchase price over $75,375. If you care uses more than 7L/100Kms it is 33% from $57,009. Lucky you guys are in the US......also say no to damn Carbon Taxes. That will make prices go even higher. Wish we were in the US |

My X3 20D (see signature for details) costs EUR 72.000 which compares to $ 99.000, so you're not alone Rod!
A 20D High Executive (which includes leather, professional sat nav and some other options) + automatic has a base price of 42K. The government than adds 20,5K of tax... Petrol is currently doing $ 9,96 per gallon (no typo). So driving a nice car is expensive. The taxes on cars are ridiculous but we have well maintained roads without potholes :-)

I ordered mine with the Sport Activity and Dynamic Handling packages. MSRP was $44,575 and I paid $42,225. I briefly considered getting leather, but it seemed like a waste for me.

All of you are having it way too easy. Try Scandinavia, especially Denmark and Norway.
X3 2.0 D M-sport with 20" summer, 19" winter, almost fully loaded is 776000 NOK, approx. 137000 USD or 85000 GBP. Average salary in Norway is approx. 61000 USD or 38500 GBP. Highest tax bracket is near 50% of your income. |

Sailing equipment for example... you saves absolutely ridiculous amount of money. Norwegian who works and lives in the US for 2 consecutive years can also bring back their cars without paying the insane tax. Many of them bring back at least 2 cars. |

That's a lot of money for an entry level premium SUV, and you guys are driving the diesels, not even the true petrol gas guzzlers!
The only taxes we have are state legislated sales tax (in IL it's about 10%), a gas guzzler tax of $1000 dollars extra for every MPG below 20 (combined), and then, well, that's kind of it.... You guys put my $56,450 to shame! COME LIVE HERE. |

He... I recently moved home from the UK. If I drove it there for a year I avoid most import costs.
Anybody in the USA want to garage a 3.0d for 12mths till I come pick it up |

Now that I'm home I can check how much extra he was charging - i happen to have had dealer prices since December. That list comes to $68k inc GST.
Dealer delivery @ $1800 other on road costs make up most of the $6k. Reckon I can get a bit more off yet |

And LOL, yes. I'd like to buy my cars in the U.S. and import it to Europe. Only the amount of bureaucratic red tape and fees is staggering. Well, and in addition to paying inflated list prices we also pay fuel prices at least twice as high as in the U.S. (even California). |
