Check all of the rubber hoses and lines in the engine if they are in good condition or need to be replaced. Possibly the VANOS seals, if the car was regularly serviced, the vehicle should be in great condition. The E83 was great that it didn't have that many electronics and engines were naturally aspirated, so should be running fine if everything was kept up to date, service wise.
