Yeah I certainly would not consider an SRT8 Grand Cherokee to be in the same ball park as the X3. That is a purpose built lead sled.
Lotus mentions the slowness of the new pentastar V6 in the Cherokee which yields an 8+ second 0-60 but even when you step up to the 5.7L Hemi rated at 360 HP / 390 TQ, the numbers are not impressive at all. I think it is near 7 seconds to hit 60.
We cross shopped the Cherokee and it was a dog, performance and efficiency wise. Don't get me wrong it is a very solid SUV and has a pretty nice interior and a bit more space than the X3 but the lack of a modern tranny really holds the Cherokees back.
