Illegal? No. There is no law stating that you can't do this.

Difficult to buy a new car from a dealer? Yes. Dealers are told by corporate HQ not to sell to foreigners. It they do, they run the risk of losing their dealership.

But... you can buy a demo or used model very easily. As long as it's been registered in someones name other than the dealership, you can buy it, bring it across the border and enjoy the standard 4yr warranty.

But back on topic, the dealer charges here in Ottawa:

Freight: 700
PDI: 1300
Doc Fee: 250
Globali Fee: 250
AC Tax: 100
Tire Tax: 24

Total: 2624

That is ridiculus. How do car dealers get away with this? When I buy groceries, I don't have to pay shipping or inspection fees on the apples I buy, but they get shipped all the same and inspected too.
