I now have over 5000 miles on my 2013 X3 28i and I love it. I commute 2 hours each day and I actually look forward to the drive.
There's plenty of power. This is my first BMW and my last car was a manual transmission Toyota Tacoma. Most of the time, I'm kinda worried I'm going to get a ticket because the vehicle accelerates effortlessly and before you know it, you're going faster than you thought. I set the speed alarm feature at 80 mph (speed limit here is 75). I'm always surprised when it goes off. I'm always leaving cars in the dust at stop lights...even without trying to do that.
My only complaint about the engine/transmission so far is occasional quirkiness with gear shifting, throttle lag and engine breaking. It takes some getting used to but it's really a minor issue in a car that I would still give 4.9 stars out of 5.
