perhaps the speed of the memory stick? USB1 vs USB2 vs USB3 not sure what the interface on BMW uses
I ended using a 16 and a 32 i had for other things. The 2 stick method - complete the loads of USB Sticks 1 and 2.
Start the update, load stick 1. When you start loading stick 2 - while it loads, take stick 1 back to your computer, reformat it for usb stick 3. (i couldn't come up w/ a 3rd...)
update worked great - does take a few hours to download prepare the files and load them but it worked well, as advertised.
Only other thing that was confirmed to me by the seller after it happens - the version screen show blank for a few minutes after the load is complete, then after a few it refreshes and shows the 2014-1 version.
