I had some issues with my old 8gb usb sticks and had to purchase a couple of 16gb sticks for usb2 and usb3.
One other thing for people should know is that it takes about 45min to create the usb sticks and about the same time to complete the update.

I had the same issues with the 8G drives and it does take HOURS to complete...
All complete now and all is go to go...
