No not really. The front defrost doesn't have to blow 100mph to clear the windows... the fan speed should remain at the previous speed setting IMO.

I don't find the other ventilation setting clears the fall condensation off the windows very well.

EDIT: ok I'll eat some crow. I tried the upper most vent setting and realized I hadn't turned on the AC to remove the moisture from the air blowing on the inside of the windshield... and yes I can set the temperature.
