We paid to have the first oil and filter change at 8K miles on the thought that the oil and filter media might be stressed with debris and contaminants from manufacturing.
And it made us feel good.
Since then we do it when the car indicates it's time.
'11 X3 35i now at about 28K miles.
Also, just added a quart of coolant mix for the second time since new. No leaks, don't know where it goes in a closed system.
