Thanks for the replies folks, all I can say is if any of you intend towing a modern Caravan and order the factory fit electric towbar using a 13 pin euro socket you better make it absolutely clear that you need power to pins 9 and 10 as well as earths on pins 11 and 13. Dealerships here in Scotland have no idea of what is required and essentially my X3 is not fit for purpose when connected to my caravan. I'm now contacting independant towbar installation specialists to see if they can provide power, I am concerned that this could invalidate the warranty though. The system should conform to ISO 11446, clearly the factory fit option does not.
