BMW X? A new X series, smaller than the X1 on the way?

This will get everyone talking!
Quote:
Half of all BMWs sold will be SUVs - sports utility vehicles, that is, or light-duty off-roaders - within five years, according to the managing director of BMW Australia, Phil Horton. Already more than one-third - 40 per cent - of BMWs making their way to Australian roads are either the X1, X3, X5 or X6.

But an increasing appetite for the high-riding soft-roaders and the imminent addition of new models in the range is set to grow the appeal further.

Horton confirms there will be a BMW SUV smaller than the city-friendly X1, although he doesn't speculate on what it might be called and when it will arrive.

''The X0?'' he jokes, while confirming such a car is ''in the pipeline''.
