I have a snap-in "basic" adaptor for iPhone 4. It charges the phone and boosts the signal through the car's antenna / aerial but nothing else (other than the bluetooth functionality you get when it's paired and not physically connected). If you want more than this you'll need a snap-in media adaptor which allows things like playing music via USB and seeing artwork on the iDrive. This still isn't available for some reason. Only BMW know the answer.

iPhone doesn't support Office but as I understand it this a restriction of the iPhone's Bluetooth capability, not BMW's compatibility.
