Had a longist drive and got the following numbers. The journey was a cold start some town driving (Hereford down the A49 which is slow) then about 50/50 A roads and motorway, wasn't in a real hurry so stayed just about legal.

1st check 22miles in from cold - 50.2 mpg @ 43.8 mph = Eff of 94
2nd check at the end 338 miles - 45.4 mpg @ 60.8 mph

I did fill the tank at the end and the number looked about right.
Did some testing on a slow drive back from Gatwick Airport today, a 4 mile section was down to a constant 50mph. So I reset the computer and set the cruise control to 50 mph for the 4 miles. Ended up getting 53mpg (with empty car, but large top box and roof bars). Compared with 70mph drive to Gatwick at ~37mpg (Full car, full top box).
Good economy, with power when required.
So upcoming drive to France= 1500 mile round trip
50mph @ 53 mpg= 28.3 Imp Gal = 128.5 litres = £180 (£1.40p diesel litre)
70mph @ 37 mpg= 40.5 Imp Gal = 183.9 litres = £257

BUT it's 30 hours driving Vs 21.4 hours.
I'll end up driving at 85mph
