Definately sounds like a module problem. Which one though? That's the tricky part. Amazingly, BMW techs don't seem to have sophisticatd equipment to diagnose these types of problems to the degree that I feel they should. Our X5 recently had to have the footwell module replaced (one of the primary lobes of the 'brain'), and it took them several tries to finally determine that.
