I didn't think it was the oil filter housing since i didn't see a trail coming from the oil filter housing... and it doesnt look like any fresh oil anywhere else nearby
X3 is at 115k miles. Has had OFHG gasket replaced at 50k, valve cover gasket at 85k & 115k.

It doesn't look like a fresh leak in your pic so I would guess it could have come from anywhere at anytime and has just sat there all this time. Are you getting any oil dripping under the car? I would suggest to put some solvent cleaner on a rag, clean it off and see if it reappears.
