The first ever BMW X4 (F26) will be officially introduced in under 2 months at the 2014 New York Auto Show in April, which means it's about time for the prototypes to drop nearly all their camouflage.
These photos now expose the X4's front fascia design. We have also reposted the fully revealed production X4 which was caught during a commercial shoot in October. Some have labeled the X4 a "baby X6," which is an accurate description judging by the looks of the photos below showing the X4 prototype following an X6 (F16) prototype.
We've also reposted a recent set of photos showing the scale of the X4 compared to the X3, with which it shares a platform. Their exteriors may be different, but they share virtually the same interior styling, while the X4 will have a slightly less spacious rear passenger compartment owing to its sloping roofline.
If the X4 is offered in the U.S. with the same sDrive and xDrive lineup as the just-introduced
refreshed X3, these would be the models:
X4 sDrive28i model
X4 xDrive28i model
X4 xDrive28d model
X4 xDrive35i model
A
recent report suggests that even if an X4 M model does not come, an M Performance diesel model is likely (though perhaps not for the US).
As with the X3, the X4 will be produced in Spartanburg, SC.
