Several threads on this a few weeks ago and recall the conclusion was "factory only" option.
According to this
thread on the 3 series forum it was no, and includes the link to a BMW bulletin.
However, this
thread is from someone who did a retro fit of 6NR to an X5
Doesn't necessarily mean it will apply to a 2011 X3
