I was able to do 100% of this with a Mac. I used the Windows virtualization software called Parallels (but could have used VMWare Fusion or perhaps even VirtualBox), which allows me to run Windows alongside my OS X install. Worked with the Ethernet cable and everything. No trouble at all.
(and, for the advanced folks out there, I was able to configure Parallels networking such that Parallels/Windows connected to my car and my Mac was still connected to the Internet, so I could browse simultaneously while I was coding... helped to answer those quick questions).
